The course culminates in a 2 hour written exam focusing on the one core module and each of the three optional modules of your choice.

Professional Project

In order to finish the Diploma in IT level candidates must complete a project.

Method of Assessment:

The course culminates in a 3 hour written exam focusing on any four of the above modules of your choice. Please be aware that practical experience is required to answer some parts of the exam.

Professional Project

In order to finish the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT level candidates must complete a project.

ABE Assessment:

The three hour written external examinations are held twice a year (usually the first week in June & December). ABE Manages the entire examination process

PG Diploma in Information systems Applications Development leading to MSc
Introduction:
This programme is primarily designed for graduate level students who wish to achieve an entry qualification and credits towards an MSc degree in computer science. The programme will also appeal to individuals with relevant employment experience and information technology (IT) skills that need to raise their awareness of modern approaches to the development of information systems.

aims of the programme:
  • To consolidate and extend any first-degree knowledge or employment experience.

  • To refresh those disciplines necessary for intensive study and personal time management.

  • To acquire and enhance basic skills in research techniques and report writing sufficient for entry to postgraduate degree programmes.

  • To develop knowledge in professional issues related to information technology as a means of furthering career progression prospects.
Course Structure:
The postgraduate Diploma (PGD) can be completed in either of two streams, dependent on the individual student’s prior learning:
  • Main Stream. This alternative is the standard progression path. All four units, each of 15 credits in value, must be taken:

  • (1) Introduction to Object-oriented Programming.
    (2) Advanced Object-oriented Programming.
    (3) Software Development Methodologies.
    (4) Professional Issues in Information Technology.

  • Specialist Stream. This path may be followed if a student so wishes and can also provide evidence of competence in both units (1) and (2) above:
  • Units (3) and (4), as above, must be taken with one of:
    (5) Internet Applications Development (30 credits).
    (6) Advanced Database Applications (30 credits).
Assessment: All the modules will be internally assessed but externally moderated by ABP. Assessment may take the form of in class exercises, individual or group assignments, time constrained examinations.

Entry Requirements:
Eligible candidates will be expected to satisfy one of the following requirements:
  • A recognised and recent university degree in computer science or in a closely related subject.

  • A recognised university degree with evidence of substantial computer literacy.

  • Mature student with extensive responsible employment in the information and communications technology sector and a clear potential for postgraduate studies.
Choosing MSc Specialization:
The Students will complete the PGD from Leyton College in 12 months which is of 60 credits and can complete the MSc (6 months) from University of Hertfordshire with any one of the specialization from the following 12 Specializations.
